Telehealth. Online therapy.

ONLINE THERAPY

Spectrum Centre offers therapy sessions online or by telephone. This service is often referred to as Telehealth.

Online therapy uses video sessions or telephone calls to deliver therapy sessions to clients in the comfort of their own home. Many clients find online therapy sessions to be easier and more convenient as there is no need to travel to an office. This especially helpful for those living in rural and remote areas. Therapy sessions can continue when clients may have a cold or other illness but still feel well enough to continue with planned appointments. Online therapy sessions can also take place during any periods of COVID-19 isolation or lock-downs.

Which services are provided online?

Therapy sessions and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) can be provided online.

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission has created two infosheets explaining TelePBS for NDIS participants:

What technology do I need?

You can use your computer (with camera), mobile phone, or a tablet/iPad for video sessions and need a reliable internet connection. For clients with data use limits, it is important to check if you have adequate data to allow for video calls and any associated costs from their internet  / mobile service provider.

When you organise an appointment you will be emailed an appointment link that you click on at the time of your appointment to join your online session.

Does online therapy suit everyone?

Online therapy is not always suitable for everyone. Individuals who struggle to maintain their attention during a conversation may find online therapy challenging. However, with current mask wearing requirements during face-to-face sessions, many individuals feel more comfortable being able to see the therapist’s face clearly in video sessions. Session lengths can be shorter with online therapy, with 30 minute sessions available.
